Finding Cozy in the Chaos of Fall 🍂

Every year, September sweeps in like a whirlwind. Homeschool is back in session, co-op days are filling the calendar, the garden is overflowing with its final harvest, and in between it all, I’m in the kitchen making soap and preparing for the holidays. Fall is busy—sometimes overwhelmingly so—but it’s also one of my favorite times of year.

There’s a kind of coziness tucked inside the chaos. It shows up in crisp mornings when I step outside with coffee in hand, in the satisfaction of jars lining the pantry after a long day of canning, and in the scents that fill my kitchen as soap cures on the racks. These little moments remind me that even in the busiest seasons, there is beauty to be found in the everyday.

One of my favorite fall rituals is lighting candles again. As the days shorten and evenings cool, the glow of a candle makes the whole house feel warmer and calmer. The gentle flicker on the table during dinner, or the soft light filling the kitchen while I clean up after a long day, instantly shifts the atmosphere. That’s why I love making and burning beeswax & lard candles this time of year. They burn beautifully and naturally, and they carry the same simple, old-fashioned comfort I try to bring into all of The Honest Goat products.

That cozy feeling also inspires my fall soaps. This year’s favorite, Frost & Flannel, captures the crispness of cool air mixed with the comfort of wrapping up in a soft blanket. Seasonal soaps are always a little bittersweet for me—they come and go quickly, just like fall itself—but that’s what makes them so special.

So even though fall may be full of busy days and long to-do lists, I’m grateful for the small, cozy rituals that make the season feel special. A candle lit on the counter, a bar of soap by the sink, a warm drink in hand—all little reminders to slow down and savor the beauty of autumn.
